Thyroxine (T4) prepares the smolt for the sea

Smoltification

In nature, levels of the hormones thyroxine T4 and cortisol increase when the smolt prepares to migrate into the sea.

Measuring these hormones can therefore tell how far the fish has physiologically progressed in the smoltification process.

Both hormones are measured in plasma.

FishLab has completed the development of the methods and is now ready to test them in collaboration with interested smolt farms.
